How To Repair A Lgb 5003/110 Transformer

  • #1

Hello, new to the forum merely not to LGB or One thousand-Calibration trains (our original starter prepare is now 25 years old and still running potent!). I recently bought a LGB blueish Christmas Train with the starter transformer. Nosotros are only running the Stainz engine on nearly 40ft. or so of track. Later on virtually 15 minutes or so of running the train stops for a few minutes so starts back up. The only affair I can think of is that the transformer is getting to warm and shutting down for a few minutes. We have three other starter sets that have these transformers (which they are merely used for sidings now) only I do not remember having this issue earlier (information technology could very well accept happened and I just don't recall LOL). Is this normal or is the transformer going? The engine runs fine on our layout at my parents so I know it is not the locomotive. Thanks for whatsoever assistance in advance.

It'due south not unknown for these controllers to develop problems after a while.
How piece of cake is information technology to bandy the suspect transformer for 1 of those normally used for the sidings?

Not hard. I had thought near that as well. It has been a niggling worse lately. Just have to got take hold of one. Was thinking of getting a later one that had a little more power for now. We take a Bridgeworks unit and an older MRC 6200 for the layout byt I cannot justify the cost of a Bridgeworks for our setup until we have bigger locos and head outdoors.

Where are you based? Anywhere nigh Cambs/Beds/Herts/London? If so have a pocket-sized LGB Controller that could be a examination replacement for you. PM me if you are accessible by Train easily in this area.

The Stainz isn't chipped for digital is information technology. In that location were a few Massoth L chips that used to demand loftier current so cut out a few years agone.

I but know of two Blue Stainz xmas locos, both should exist early cabs with raised lettering with a no2.
1 has a early d type chassis cake with metal rods, ane has a separate chassis with metal rods.
Neither had chips, although the one with the d type cake had a smoke stack
