Power Bank Charging socket is damaged, how to repair or get it repaird Jul 29, 2022

   Hey all,

   I take a one plus ability banking company which accidently got its charging port damaged (tried to plugin during the nighttime..lol) I took it to a local shop but they say they don't know how to open this since one plus is non popular in my land (SA).

   Now I need instructions how to open this device or advice.

   Lol. You lot knackered that pretty well! Be conscientious whatever you lot practice, batteries can be pretty dodgy if yous mess with them past bursting them.    Looking at pics, I'd try squeezing it together to run into if a gap appears forth the edge. Concord the curved edge and the opposite side and push it together, but don't go crazy with screwdrivers or knives!

   lol...yes I did, was on imp. call and needed to charge my dying phone and it was dark, issue K.O

   If it cannot be repaired, can I apply it as a newspaper weight at my office desk....or are they too dodgy to exist used that way.??

    why buy when you tin fix a perfectly functional item and salvage a fleck of the environment?

    Needed to fix bad contacts myself... did not find any references of anyone doing it other than this thread... so i butchered it open up the best i could... had i known how exactly the assembly was, i could have gotten away with small cosmetic damage (thought information technology was all glued together so didnt really try to go safe on it) it is indeed glued but still based on a cassette kind of assembly... so might get away with merely pulling it autonomously... have fastened a photo to illustrate it and a backup here: http://imgur.com/a/835ed in case anyone else has issues... that said, a consummate replacement of the socket will non be easy peasy... its super fine connections so you need a real fine solder iron and a steady hand ... and a bit of experience. if the connections are merely a bit loose like mine were, its much easier.

    Kickoff on the usb port, and fit a plastic tool in the crease to start removing the strip. work around the top and side, then fully remove it. it is mainly glued on, but there are some tabbed connections on each end and at the corner, exist careful to not break these.

    Then start on the corner and use a fingernail or plastic blade to go a edge lifted near the LED status lights. Once you get an border upwards, piece of work downwards both sides to the ends. this is glued to the casing, and you may end up damaging it slightly, exist careful. if you have a heat gun, that may help.

    You can see in the medico, that it is meant to slide into the casing peel just they assemble with adhesive, so heat may be your friend hither.

    In one case you take made it around the edges, in that location are two areas that volition help you pry information technology out of the casing. I've circled them in crimson, ane is on one side, and the other is on the back, so use these to walk it out slowly and gently with a plastic tool.
